Standard bread cloth dimensions are finished at 17” by 17” square. This means you would need to have a beginning size of 17-1/2” by 17-1/2.” Cut two pieces this size. Hand stitch design on only one piece of fabric and put the other one aside until your stitching is complete. Once you have completed your stitching. Put right sides of fabric together and stitch ½” from edge all the way around leaving a small opening for turning right side out. You may wish to trim your seams to ¼”. Turn right side out. Then iron the entire bread cloth flat pushing in the edge that has been left open for turning. Once you have that unfinished edge ironed straight to match that side, follow one of the options below to finish your bread cloth.

Option 1~
You may top stitch with a machine ¼” from edge all the way around
Option 2~
Whip stitch opening closed using tiny stitches in matching thread

Now iron the project once again (if you wish) and you have completed your bread cloth.

You may also increase or decrease the pattern and material size to accommodate other size baskets.
